Choosing Your – ELECTRONICS

Electronics can be someone’s essential item. First you need to establish what you will be using or needing on your travels. This is usually quite easy for shorter trips, but for longer ones have a think about whether you use this item 80% of your normal day or week at home. Let’s break it down into some things you may be needing and see where we can save on space.

In my essentials blog I touched on phone but just in case you didn’t read that blog I will insert the same here.

  • Phone

A phone isn’t an essential for everyone. Some people even prefer travelling without one, so they aren’t tempted to look at it 24/7. It’s a good idea and if you can travel like that then fab. I don’t look at my phone 24/7 but I still like to have it on my person (closest bag) I feel safer with it than without it. I use it to find locations, contact people and take my travel photos which save to Google forever.

  • Laptop

For some, a laptop is crucial to take with them. If you are working as well as travelling; a phone will be handy at times, but you need your working space. You can also use your laptop for banking/editing photos you take but this isn’t essential to have a laptop for. How often do you use yours? If you are just thinking of taking it to watch Netflix, then you should just leave it at home.

  • Chargers

A portable charger for me is a must, it’s so handy for long bus journeys or if you get to a hostel and the plug sockets don’t work. Making sure you can keep capturing your adventures on the go. I usually like to take with me a couple of spider cables rather than a cable for every single device. Spider cables are usually shorter and don’t get tangled in your bag. On top of this I would take an extension plug cube so you can charge a few things at the same time, this just saves you time. A multiple adaptor makes life easy if you are visiting countries with different socket outlets.

  • GoPro/Camera

Some people are into photography, making videos and creating top quality content. Other people may just be happier with their phone. It’s up to you whether you are to take your camera, are you going to be spotting loads of wildlife you want to capture? Or is the camera going to be yet another bulky thing you have to keep hidden and safe?
