Brick House Hostel Review

We stayed at the Brick House Hostel (now changed name to Mad Monkey Hostel).

It was £2.50 per night for the two of us to stay there in a dorm room, it was such a bargain. The rooms where clean and simple for the price. There wasn’t a larger locker under the bunk bed for your big rucksacks but there was definitely space to put it under. They had a medium sized locker if you wanted to lock away any valuables per bed which was right next to each of them.

The location was perfect for Chiang Mai, right in the middle of the Old Town and close to the Night Bazaar. The ratings if you were to look today are 9.1 on hostelworld, so it’s a pretty good deal. We stayed in Chiang Mai for 8 nights in total, so we knew we would want to have a few lazy days. This hostel had the perfect pool/bar area so you could relax if you wanted to, or socialise if you wanted. I think they also had a small gym there as well which you could use, if you are into that sort of thing while you are away.

The restaurant and lounge area were really nice, just a big open space for you to socialise once again. Food was great and staff were always friendly. When we were stayed there we organised all our day tours through the reception who made it quick and easy.

Since it has become a Mad Monkey hostel I’d hoped that the atmosphere hasn’t changed as it was always buzzing with excited travellers. With the star rating that high I can’t imagine that it has. I am sure now that it has changed hands to Mad Monkey they will organise different bar crawls for the whole hostel to join in, as usually this chain of hostels does.
