Kounsavan Guesthouse Review

The main draw to this hostel for us was the pool. A large spacious place out the back with sun loungers and lots of room to roam and socialise. We wanted a more relaxed time here as we had been a bit full on in Vang Vieng so we just wanted somewhere where we could laze around the pool and enjoy a few beers in the afternoon or evening.

The location of the hostel was perfect for exploring the surrounding area of Luang Prabang, it was easy to walk straight from the hostel into the centre of the city. We headed out to the markets in the day time, a few walking trails which lead up to a couple of viewpoints and a couple of temple visits which were close by. Restaurants and bars where easy access just a short walk away as well. We hired mopeds from a local shop so we could head to the waterfalls and the bear sanctuary during the day.

Unfortunately, Hostelworld no long sell this particular guest house but you can find the information for this on tripadvisor, agoda etc. It will give you an idea on the location so you can choose a hostel close by.

If I was going back now, I would go for something like the ‘Chill Riverside Backpackers Hostel’ or the ‘Mad Monkey Hostel’ (classic and does exactly what they say on the tin). Similar sort of price that we paid, great reviews and also in good locations as well.
