Hangout Hostel Review

This isn’t a very long review as we didn’t spend a massive about of time in this hostel. We were in full swing of travelling at the time, so we just wanted somewhere with a bed to sleep.

Location of the hostel was great for the centre of Ho Chi Minh, the pub street was the road behind so if you did actually want some sleep, you could get it. Well, at least the noise outside the hostel didn’t wake you, I can’t say the same for the inside. If you wanted to go for a night out, it was just a street away.

It’s a very sociable hostel, they class it as one of the party ones, so very easy to meet people here. Everyone we met was very friendly and it seemed to be one of the top rated on Hostelworld, so we met a range of different people from different parts of the world.

They had free beer at happy hour which this is always a bonus for socializing or the start of a night out.

Security of the rooms was great – each bed had a large locker underneath for your big bags and then a smaller locker on the far wall for any smaller valuables. The dorm rooms where clean and simple. The bathrooms kept in the same way. I remember hot water at this hostel, which was perfect if you got caught in the rain.

We didn’t eat at this hostel for any larger meals but breakfast was included, a standard eggs and bread dish to soak up any alcohol from the night before. Again, simple but effective.

Staff were very friendly and the check in process was easy. We booked our day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnel from here which was very easy to do, they even had promotional offers if you stayed at the hostel, another bonus.
