This hostel was in a great location in the middle of Kampot town. It was modern, clean and felt very private and secure. As we were out most of the day it was nice knowing that our valuables, as well as large bag, were secure to come back to when we had finished for the day. All the beds had their own large locker underneath as well as a smaller locker along one wall where you could put your smaller valuables.
The dorm room we stayed in was large with about sixteen or so beds in it. There were options for smaller rooms also depending on your group size as well as your budget. The smaller rooms tend to be a little more in price. There were at least six of us that were staying here in a group so we didn’t mind having a larger dorm. It’s always the best way of meeting other travellers anyway. If you wanted to you could also opt for a private room with en suite which were available. We paid around £3 for the sixteen bed dorm, private rooms cost roughly £7.50. The shared facilities in the dorm rooms such as the toilets and showers were always clean and well kept.
The location of the hostel meant we were walking distance from bars and restaurants. There was a moped shop just down the street where we hired our peds for the duration of our stay. If you weren’t able to stay at ‘Arcadia Backpackers’ hostel, this is a great alternative. However, being in a great location in the centre of town does mean it is about a fifteen-minute ride from ‘Arcadia’. So take that into consideration if you were heading there for the day or afternoon.
Monkey Republic had a clean dining area where they served our breakfast. Another bonus of the hostel – breakfast. We did have some other food here when we arrived off our minibus after our long journey from Koh Rong. I remember having a burger as I fancied something non-Asian and it was very good! The staff here were always lovely and friendly whenever you saw them in the bar or restaurant area.
