This hostel was beautiful. It had lush, tropical gardens surrounded the rooms, reception area and the garden. It wasn’t a mental nightlife hostel like the Mad Monkey brand ones, but it was definitely full of life.
The pool area was the nicest part, they had loungers either side of the pool, a bar at one end and tables the other. You could order your food and drinks to sit around the pool, so this was the area most back-packers gravitated towards. It was cheap ordering from the hostel if you wanted to eat in or it was just a few minutes’ walk from the main area of Siem Reap anyway.
It was a great place for meeting other backpackers. All different ages and all different ethnicities. We found that back-packers here were a bit older, rather than hanging around loads of eighteen-year-olds. When you are in your twenties it’s nice to meet people similar age or older. Not all the time, but most times. I guess that comes down to the fact all the younger travellers are over at one of the ‘party all the time’ hostels.
They had different types of accommodation you could choose from, depending on your style and budget. They had one large attic dorm room, which is where we stayed, which held twenty-four beds in total. These were all single beds, not bunk beds. We paid around £3 a night for this. You could opt for one of the smaller dorm rooms which had bunk beds which had roughly eight sets in each. I believe they came out to £4 roughly per night. Or you could have your own room if you wanted with a shared bathroom. Or just your own private space of bedroom and en-suite. . still, plenty of rooms to choose from. Private rooms as far as I am aware started from £7 per night. In the dorms each bed had it’s own small locker for your valuables but didn’t have a big locker space so you couldn’t lock away your large bag.
The location of the hostel was brilliant just five minutes down the road from Pub Street (where the main nightlife is) and the Night Market (where most of the food is). Both key to what we looked for when choosing a hostel.
If you wanted to organise a tour to the Angkor Wat Temples you could do this from the reception.
